Tattoo aftercare instructions
After your tattoo session, we will apply a waterproof plastic bandage that keeps out bacteria and helps your tattoo heal faster. Avoid getting this bandage wet.
It is normal for the tattoo to release plasma and ink as it heals. Your bandage will retain this liquid. If it seeps out from the edges of the bandage, return to our shop so we can clean your tattoo and replace your bandage.
After seven days, gently remove the bandage. Wash your hands thoroughly with fragrance-free antibacterial soap before attempting to remove the bandage. Peel up an edge of the bandage and gently pull it back over itself in the natural direction of your hair growth.
It’s helpful to remove the bandage in the shower as the water will help loosen the adhesive and relax your skin. If you remove the bandage while your skin is dry, you may cause additional trauma to your skin.
Discard the used bandage.
Wash your hands again with fragrance-free antibacterial soap, then gently clean any remaining blood, plasma, and ink from your tattoo with a gentle circular motion. Use only your hands along with warm water and fragrance-free antibacterial soap to clean your tattoo. Avoid scrubbing your tattoo.
Pat the tattoo dry with a clean towel, or let it air dry for at least 10 minutes.
You may apply unscented lotion as needed over the next week until your tattoo is fully healed. Use only a thin layer of lotion, since a thick layer will prevent your tattoo from being able to breathe. Avoid over-moisturizing your new tattoo.
Avoid exposing your new tattoo to the sun for prolonged periods of time. Apply sunscreen when going outside. Wait at least one month before swimming.
