Piercing aftercare instructions
Never touch your piercing without thoroughly washing your hands with fragrance-free antibacterial soap. Avoid putting makeup, lotion, hair products, sunscreen, or other cosmetics on your new piercing.
Clean your piercing twice a day with fragrance-free antibacterial soap. Before cleaning your piercing, wash your hands thoroughly with the same fragrance-free antibacterial soap. Rinse the piercing thoroughly after cleaning to remove all soap.
Do not clean your piercing with alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or other harsh substances. Do not over-clean your piercing, and do not apply any ointments to it.
You may spray your piercing with sterile saline spray after cleaning. This can help improve healing times. Do not mix your own sea salt solution at home.
After cleaning, dry your piercing with clean, disposable products such as cotton swabs or gauze.
Place clean sheets and pillowcases on your bed. Wear comfortable and breathable clothing when sleeping to protect piercings on your body. Wash and change your bedding regularly.
Do not remove your piercing jewelry. New and even older piercings can begin closing within minutes.
Do not rotate, spin, or twist your new piercing or touch it otherwise except when cleaning.
Do not submerge your new piercing in lakes, oceans, hot tubs, or other bodies of water.
Avoid all contact with other people’s bodily fluids while your piercing is healing. Avoid rough physical contact.
Your piercer will tell you how long to wait before changing out your piercing. Healing times can range from one or two months to over half a year.
